Will be looking for an Oracle 9i/10g (10 g not real necessary since they only have 2-3 products in 10g env) DBA's. Sybase or MS SQL (if they have SQL, they have found that they can pick up the Sybase easily after a few classes) is going to be highly preferred. Need someone who is flexible in that they are not dead set on doing things the way "Oracle" says to do it. Sometimes this way does not work well in their environment and they need to make necessary adjustments. Also has to be able to work in a diverse group of people Project expected to be 3 months, contract to hire

We have an immediate opportunity for an experienced DBA. The candidate should have Oracle and Sybase knowledge. Extensive Database experience working with large scale enterprise environments. Have an in depth understanding of where, when, and why to distribute a database/warehouse across multiple locations, and the implications to common services of such a decision. Must be familiar with ETL tools such as ETI, Informatica, etc. Experience in the reasons for, and mechanics behind introducing an RDBMS to a mainframe database environment. Clear insight into potential bottlenecks and the ability to manage/influence subordinate DBA's to accomplish mission. Experienced in working in an environment with multiple disparate DBMS's and file structures across both emerging and legacy platforms. Manages the performance monitoring and tuning of all data structures and databases. Ensures the effective and efficient performance of staff with respect to database administration, including such tasks as: loading data, managing data security and user access, performance monitoring and tuning, and all aspects of data integrity, backup, recovery, user and developer support. Provides architectural vision for the data aspects of the organizational infrastructure and acts in a consultative capacity to systems, network and other infrastructure architects. Manages, plans, executes, and maintains database capacity, backup and recovery, and disaster recovery plans. Familiar with all phases of database programming (i.e., assists programmers to troubleshoot and tune programs in terms of efficient database usage). Individuals should posses thorough knowledge of the subject DBMS, DML (SQL), DDL, utilities, services, troubleshooting, architecture, syntax, etc. Sufficient expertise with the host operating and network environments to completely provide all required functions and services including estimating and monitoring of all required hardware, coding and execution of administration jobs, and monitoring and archiving backup files.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Unix/DBA team has an immediate opportunity for an experienced DBA who can immediately begin to add value to the area. The candidate should have Oracle and Sybase knowledge. The candidate would be expected to execute multiple Production support tasks concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
All database staff rotate through the firecall list and will be expected to provide after hours support for the production environment.

Skills Required:

Experience with Oracle 9i and above
Experience with Sybase 11.9.2 and above
Experience with BMC Patrol, RMAN, DBArtisan, SQL Backtrack for Oracle and Sybase
Strong problem solving skills
Ability to address Very Large Database (VLDB) issues
Performance analysis and tuning
Knowledge of UNIX OS, shell scripting is a plus
Excellent communication skills
