Opera Glass Network Technician

Carnival Center, designed by world-renowned architect Cesar Pelli of Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, will include the 2,400-seat Sanford and Dolores Ziff Ballet Opera House, the 2,200-seat Carnival Concert Hall, a 200-seat black box Studio Theater, the Peacock Education Center, a restored Art Deco Tower, and a Plaza for the Arts that will unite the Center buildings across Biscayne Boulevard, providing a magnificent setting for outdoor entertainment and informal gatherings. Opening in the fall of 2006, Carnival Center will be a Miami venue not only for its four resident companies (Concert Association of Florida, Florida Grand Opera, Miami City Ballet, and New World Symphony), but also for many smaller South Florida arts organizations that will perform in its theaters on a regular basis, as well as for the finest popular and classical performances from around the world. With state-of-the-art performance facilities in Miami for the first time, the Center will offer to South Florida audiences the best and most diverse theater, music, and dance—with a dedication to entertain, challenge, and educate all segments of the community.

Position Summary:
This position will provide technical support, maintenance, set-up, operation as well as the establishment of technical standards for Opera Glass Network (OGN) system and equipment.
REQUIREMENTS
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Maintain all OGN-related equipment including server, performance workstations, lobby signage, monitors and seatback PDA units
•Setup OGN-related equipment before appropriate performances or facility rentals
•Implement lobby display content and seatback display unit content as provided by OGN, Carnival Center and Florida Grand Opera
•Establish technical standards for developing new lobby and seatback display content
•Other tasks relate to the OGN project as appropriate


Qualifications

Certifications or equivalent job experience with the following are required:
•Operating Systems: Windows Server 2003; Windows XP Professional.
•Operating Environments: TCP/IP; Microsoft SQL Server
•Applications: Microsoft Office 2003 (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint)
The ideal candidate will also have certifications or the equivalent job experience with the following:
•Microsoft Terminal Services; Citrix Metaframe; Microsoft IIS; Microsoft Project; Dell OpenManage; Tessitura ticketing and fundraising system; Artifax facility scheduling system; enterprise anti-virus systems
•Infrastructure: Enterprise managed network hubs, switches and routers; DNS, DHCP, WINS, SMTP, and Active Directory Services; enterprise network backup systems; Wide Area Networking; Microsoft Exchange Server
•1-3 years of prior experience in an applicable environment
•Ability to work a non-traditional work schedule
•The ability to communicate in Spanish is highly desirable

Education:

•Bachelor’s degree in computer science or closely related field preferred.
