Online Communications Manager

Primary responsibilities include maintaining the Zoo’s website and managing online communications and e-commerce. The responsibilities focus on driving the revenue and mission applications of the website. The Manager, Online Communications, collaborates across departments to identify and implement continuous content and functionality updates and enhancements to the website. This manager also supports education, conservation and revenue objectives. This individual serves as producer of Zoo online communications collateral and maintains the Philadelphia Zoo website. Researches, recommends and implements e-commerce and web marketing initiatives. Will create medium-term growth strategy for e-commerce and will help develop and launch long-term total e-commerce functionality for the Zoo. Manages third-party vendors to develop and maintain the Zoo’s online functions. Helps negotiate contracts as needed. Manages online communications projects and related timelines, budgets and expenses. Collaborates with Education and Conservation, Marketing, Development and Guest Relations departments to develop online communications strategies to advance institutional mission and operational objectives. Coordinates and facilitates online efforts across departments. Communicates timelines and project plans to Philadelphia Zoo departments and coordinates updates to site content as necessary. Collects and analyzes all relevant website data including traffic and performance reports, domain name services and ecommerce sales. Develops and manages capital and operating online communications budgets. Provides training on the use of the website for employees as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
Degree in marketing, communications, or a related field and two to three years related experience.

Must demonstrate a working knowledge of website design, maintenance, testing and building. Experience preferred.

Working knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, PHP and SQL preferred.

Experience with web authoring, development and publishing tools, including Dreamweaver and Content Management Systems.

Hands-on experience with web-database integration.

Excellent oral and written skills and a strong attention to detail, quality assurance and follow-through.

Ability to think creatively and suggest alternative website design/development solutions.

Excellent project management and organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Demonstrated customer service skills; ability to develop and sustain effective working relationships within the organization and with outside vendors; superior interpersonal skills; ability to work with diverse personalities; tactful; mature; flexible.

Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include weekends, evenings and holidays.
