Network Engineer

Purpose: TEKsystems is looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join our client''s permanent staff.

The senior network engineer contributes to and oversees the long-term development of the enterprise-wide, complex and heterogeneous data communications systems including LAN and WAN. Additionally, the engineer oversees the day-to-day operation of these networks. The senior network engineer will develop technical solutions for data, video and converged voice systems in support of the company's goals and objectives. This position will work with staff in Computer Operations, Administrative Systems, and other groups in coordinating services and providing appropriate guidance as well as providing leadership and guidance to junior staff.

Technical environment:
Networking technologies, services and protocols that are typical of a large enterprise network including WLAN, WEP, WAP, 802.1x, 802.11, IPX/SPX, TCP/IP, NFS, LPR/LPD, SNMP, SMTP, DHCP/BootP, DNS, RIP, ARP/RARP, VPNs, VLANs, BGP, Subnets, Routing and Appletalk. Cisco and Extreme Networks switches and routers.

We are looking for someone with ten or more years experience in the operation and design of enterprise-wide communication systems with demonstrated increasing responsibilities. Demonstrated experience in managing large networking design and implementation projects. Must be skilled as a technical troubleshooter and be knowledgeable in the use of network management and analysis tools. Experience using NAI Sniffer, Fluke LanMeter/Optiview/Network Inspector/Protocol Inspector, HP Openview is a plus. Experience with Cisco and Extreme Networks switches and routers is required. Experience with Checkpoint Firewall-1 and Floodgate-1 is extremely desired. Bachelors Degree in Computer Engineering or related discipline is required. An advance degree is desirable.
