Job Summary:
Responsible for the management and maintenance of the monitoring tools and
processes for a 7x24 production environment. Works closely with the Network
Operations Center, Maintenance Center, Engineering, and IT to develop, test,
implement and maintain active network monitoring and performance metrics
gathering and reporting.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Configure, manage, and maintain Management tools such as Micromuse NetCool,
Concord eHealth, InfoVista, and HP Openview. Develop and maintain JEL Server and
web pages with supporting scripts. Responsible for automation configuration,
rules file development for introduction of new devices into network, tool
designs, historical report requirements, and overall design concepts.Responsible for Impact Policy development, testing, analyzing, and deployment.
Responsible for ARS Remedy Gateway interface, MetaSolv Gateway interface, and
Oracle Administration.Work closely with NOC Tier III Support for alert reception validation, identify
incompatibilities, identify and document monitoring requirements and processes.
Maintain accurate records of current licenses. Act as liaison between Management
and Users prioritizing bugs and enhancements. Create and generate reports from
monitoring and metrics data for use in managing and improving operations.QUALIFICATIONS

functions.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Prefer a 4-Year Degree in Computer Science or related discipline or Technical
School Certificate such as ECPI with advanced experience.
3 - 5 years with extensive experience dealing with and resolving customer
troubles in a NOC environment.
1+ years UNIX operations/administration experience, experience with monitoring
tools, automation, root cause resolution, and shell/Perl script development.LANGUAGE SKILLS
Excellent written and verbal skills a must. Ability to read, analyze, and
interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to write reports,
business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present
information and respond to common inquiries, questions, or complaints from
groups of managers, clients, and customers.REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid
conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions
in mathematical or diagram form. Ability to solve practical problems and deal
with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited
standardization exists.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
