Manager of Database

Purpose: A large company in the Miami area is currently looking for a DBA manager for a full time position.

This person will be responsible for:

-Maintain stable development, test, reporting and production database environments.
-Oversee maintenance and support of UNIX server hardware, software and operating system environment.
-Provide on call support and for the timely and accurate resolution of problems for all database systems.
-Execute a mentoring process to bring all DBAs up to a high degree of competency.
-Determine, schedule and lead the major projects to be accomplished by the DBA department.
-Coordinate and schedule all projects that require database interaction and support.
-Participate in all phases of development projects that interact with the database systems.
-Work with application programmers on the use of database tools, techniques and concepts.
-Assist application developers with writing efficient SQL.
-Plan, install, coordinate and implement program products and tools that ease the administration and monitoring of databases.

The qualified individual must have the following experience and qualifications:

-Minimum five years DBA experience with Sybase and 2 years experience with MS SQL server
-Prior experience performing database installations and upgrades
-Prior experience with Sybase replication is a plus
-Experience with sql scripting, stored procedures and triggers
-Working knowledge of HP-UX and Windows operating systems
-Ability to develop and maintain Unix shell scripts and cron jobs
-Working knowledge of network connectivity and interoperability of multi-platform environments
-Project management skills are required and the ability to use Microsoft Project
-Proven production support background of application databases in a 24 X 7 environment
-Strong problem solving and analytical skills are necessary for this position
