Manager/Projects

Purpose:
Tribune Publishing is seeking a Manager / Projects to join our group-level technology team.
Responsibilities of this technology leadership position include identifying and providing high quality, cost-effective technical solutions for multiple location newspaper business and production clients, to meet their strategic goals and operating objectives; as well as the overall strategic and operating objectives of Tribune Publishing. This individual leads the development and implementation of key e-commerce, business and production application systems to improve competitive advantage, maximize productivity and operational efficiency. Must be able to easily conceptualize technical solutions to complex customer information and production requirements and to construct accurate, efficient and economical solutions to such problems. Works with multiple current and potential future newspaper system vendors to identify current and potential longer term solutions to business and production problems.
REQUIREMENTS
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are required, as well as superior organizational skills to effectively plan system development activities and coordinate work among internal and external resources across multiple business units. Must be very familiar with structured project management techniques and tools, as well as systems development life cycle processes. Excellent analytical, planning, communication, documentation and follow-up skills are required. Flexibly in accepting changing priorities is required, as well as ability to manage multiple projects. Requires six to eight years of progressively more responsible newspaper systems analysis experience, plus an undergraduate degree in computer science or anther closely related field. Extensive experience in a multi-platform technology environment very desirable, as well as a strong newspaper production and business application knowledge. Additional experience in Sarbanes Oxley IT Controls and compliance and Personal Credit Industry (PCI) compliance is a plus. Travel is required in this position.
