Purpose: Technical Environment: 16 LINUX Servers, 100+ Windows Servers (co-located); iSeries AS/400s; High Availability, Automation
Failsafe, PC's, Laptops, Thin Clients, Lotus Domino and Enterprise Security ***USING LINUX-SUSE, help configure and install Open Source Applications: APACHE, SPAM ASSASSIN, POSTFIX, SQUID and SAMBA.

Job Description:The System Administrator for LINUX is a member of the Client's Technical Services Team that is responsible for the support, maintenance and troubleshooting of the Enterprise Linux infrastructure.

Technical skills: (Prioritize importance most to least) Previous LINUX experience in a "BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT", preferably experience at the Enterprise level (junior to mid level experience). Strong knowledge of LINUX and Open Source related topics, firewalls, scripting, WAN/LAN, iSeries and Client Support
Other skills: (management experience, communication skills, problem solving skills, presentation skills, multi-tasking, etc.) ABSOLUTELY
MUST HAVE GOOD COMMUNICATION SKILLS AND A DESIRE TO BECOME A TECHNOLOGY PROFESSIONAL....NOT A LINUX CODER WHO ONLY WANTS TO WORK ON LINUX!!! *Good team player, willing to work extra hours on occasion, provide good documentation and have an EXCELLENT attitude.
MAJOR FUNCTION:
The System Administrator for Linux is a member of the team responsible for the support, maintenance and trouble shooting of the Enterprise Linux infrastructure. In addition, the team is also responsible for the Clients (PCs, Laptops, Thin Clients),Windows Servers, Lotus Domino, and Enterprise Security.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Help configure and install Enterprise Linux Servers.
Help configure and install Open Source applications such as Apache, Spam Assassin, Postfix, Squid, and Samba.
Monitor infrastructure performance, statistics and utilization to ensure Servers operate within the standards set by department management.
Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of this position.
Participate in the Technical Services On-Call Schedule in accordance with the interdepartmental Service Level Agreement(SLA).
Research and stay abreast network hardware and software which is potentially useful to the client.
Maintain IS Knowledge Base Entries that cover topics in a manner that enable the members of Technical Services and Systems Support to answer and correct common problems.
REQUIREMENTS:
Baccalaureate degree in computer science or related field is desired. A minimum of four years of related experience is required, two years should include knowledge of Linux and Open Source related concepts preferably in an ENTERPRISE environment. Working knowledge of Windows Servers, Lotus Domino, Firewalls, Scripting, WAN/LAN, iSeries and Client Support are desired.Classification:Full-TimeCompensation:
