LAN/WAN/Engineer/Team Lead

Purpose: Our client in Johnston RI is looking for a team leader of the Data Networking Infrastructure team. This individual would be accountable for the design, research, selection, implementation, support, maintenance and standards of the data networking infrastructure to support this financial establishment worldwide.

This position will be responsible for providing a highly reliable, maintainable and cost efficient global data network.

Areas include:
network circuits, network hardware & software, capacity planning, network tools, application modeling, network diversity, redundancy and disaster recovery, Internet, remote access, firewalls, network diagrams and network directory services. The team leader will be responsible for technical guidance, project and vendor management, creating architectural recommendations, developing network projects, assigning team members to projects & tracking progress, developing staff members, and participate in performance planning and appraisals.

Accountabilities will include:
Creating and assigning project plans, project descriptions, business justifications and proposals, implementation plans, project financial analysis and comparisons, purchase and maintenance agreements, and vendor identification/selection. In addition this position will oversee application bandwidth impact analysis, manage performance analysis & tuning, system upgrades, and the set-up & support of network restoration and backup services.

To be qualified for this position, applicants are required to have large project leadership experience, strong communication skills, and possess excellent vendor management skills. The candidate must also be customer service oriented to work with all Network Services teams, application developers and business users. The applicant is required to have a solid working knowledge of data networking infrastructure including circuit technology, network topology and a good understanding of carrier networks. Also required is a strong knowledge of routing, switch, and firewall hardware, (Checkpoint), and network troubleshooting & optimization tools (OPNET, Concord E-Health, Packeteer, HP Openview and CiscoWorks). Familiarity with network security, backup technologies, VLans, Cisco load balancers, and VPN appliances. Bachelor's degree, 8+ years of data networking experience with 4+ years in a leadership role required. CCNA or greater network certifications desired.Classification:Contract-to-HireCompensation:
