IT Specialist (SQL Developer)

Major Tasks, Key Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities:



Job Responsibilities:

Participate in enterprise wide investment projects requiring the need to perform data analysis, Java development, and the modification of Sybase SQL stored procedures along with existing batch processes. The candidate will need to interact with multiple business and IT teams. Applications span PBG Organizational Maintenance, Item Maintenance, and Customer Maintenance domains. Backline support will need to be provided for the resolution of field tickets relating to Master Data issues. Support calls will need to be resolved within SLA limits and the candidate will be required to be on a bi-weekly call support rotation schedule to resolve business critical issues off hours - typically 1-2 hours per week. Travel requirements are none to very light. Candidates must be able to proficiently communicate verbally with business and IT customers. Candidates should be willing to learn about the related business domain, processes, and system integration points with Master Data. Candidates will work with Master Data Application Technical staff.



Accountabilities:Resolve Master Data and Application Security backline support tickets through data analysis, process analysis, and assist with application software debugging. Work on projects of medium to large scope through all phases of the SDLC following PBG's development methodology Interact with team members in day-to-day activities. Proficiency with JAVA and Sybase SQL is essential. Interact with business partners to understand system requirements and issue details to provide and develop solutions. Interact with internal IT support teams as well as application interface teams. REQUIREMENTS


Basic Job Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of SQL development and analysis experience

Strong Object Oriented development background in Java or C++ on the Windows platform

Must have hands-on experience developing Sybase stored procedures and UNIX scripts

Good technical foundation including database and application development knowledge

Understanding of SDLC and trouble-shooting techniques required

Solid end user support skills

Strong analytical and organizational skills

Good verbal communication skills.

Ability to work in a team environment
