IT Associate Applications Developer - Power and Gas Markets

Join the Cargill Power & Gas Markets I/T team as an Associate Applications Developer working on a diverse set of trading business software. We are looking for an aggressive entry-level developer to build and support applications for our Electricity and Natural Gas Trading business. Candidates should possess a strong, demonstrable technical acumen and ideally have experience developing software using the following tools: VB6, VB.Net, ODBC/Oracle PL/SQL, UNIX Shell and Hyperion Intelligence (Brio).



This position will take place in a fast-paced and challenging environment. The weekly regimen of work could run the spectrum from:Achieving analysis/development milestones on a dedicated, prioritized and scheduled project. Working with associates to identify a business need Determining how the need can best be met and then making it happen in the tightest timeframe possible. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to utilize his/her technical skills on a variety of business critical projects and occasionally work on software that adds directly to the success of our trading business.



Principle Accountabilities:

60% Conduct analysis and develop custom software and utilities in support of our trading business.

30% Improve or maintain existing systems as new technologies and techniques are discovered.

10% Participate in day/night pager support rotation, approximately every 4 weeks.

REQUIREMENTS


Required Skills:Four year bachelor degree in MIS or Computer Science, or equivalent experience. 1 - 2 years experience building and maintaining UNIX shell scripts. 1 - 2 years professional experience building applications with Microsoft VB6 and VB.Net. 1 - 2 years experience building Oracle database applications using ODBC and PL/SQL. 1 - 2 years experience with writing SQL.



Desired Skills:Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new analysis methods and technologies quickly as business opportunities demand. Ability to work on development projects and handle support issues as needed in a rapidly changing, dynamic environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Experience building solutions using Hyperion Intelligence tools (Brio). Experience working as part of a trading business.
