Ground Software and System Lead
Primary Responsibility: Senior level system and software engineer with strong leadership skills and the ability to architect and develop spacecraft operations and ground segment system software in the area of planning, telemetry, commanding, and assessment.
Specific Duties:
Review the existing ground system architecture, identify weaknesses and strengths, develop a plan for improvement of the ground system software focusing on increased reliability and reduced maintenance and development costs.
Support re-architecture of ground system software and tools.
Develop various software components for the ground system.
Perform software quality reviews and requirements verification.
Manage and track schedule and cost of development efforts.
REQUIREMENTS
Required:
B.S. or M.S. Computer Science or Equivalent.
5 - 10 years of experience in developing spacecraft system engineering and software engineering.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Experience in cost estimation and proposal development.
Strong interpersonal skills, initiative and follow-through.
Interest in technical and administrative management.
Strong analytical problem-solving and leadership characteristics, including the ability to visualize, select, and communicate system level solutions and new technical direction.
Skills include Java, C , UML, OO, SCL, STOL. Experienced with DSN, USN, COP-1, CLTU, CFDP, SLE, SGLS, AFSCN, and GMSEC.
Experienced with Solaris, Unix, Linux, network computing.
Experienced in software design methodology and configuration management systems.
Desired: Familiar with AMMOS, MAESTRO, OS/Comet, ITOS, EPOCH. Knowledge of orbital dynamics, celestial mechanics, and mission design.
Special Working Conditions: May include some travel to participate in sponsor reviews activities. Provide occasional support for off-hours assignments in system integration, testing, and launch preparations.
