GRAPHIC DESIGNER
Gannett Pacific Publications, Inc., is dedicated to providing quality community, health, and travel magazines. We are currently seeking a talented graphic designer with award-winning style and an appreciation for both pictures and prose and how they blend to create striking high-end magazines.
This individual will work with a team, as well as individually, to:
Build, design and trouble-shoot ads, create layouts and prepare the magazines for press
Proof artwork for accuracy, quality and make color corrections and adjustments as necessary
Assist in photo shoots, production work, and image research
Design magazine features/departments or entire single-advertising publications
Work with customers to create ad design and present ideas on an as-needed basis
Communicate with and provide art and production support for all areas of the company as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate is passionate about design and has previous graphic design experienced in magazine publications. The likely candidate is self-motivated with strong conceptualization and design skills to take projects from notion through completion and possesses superior design skills coupled with tangible experience in a Macintosh OSX environment. Qualified candidates will be proficient with design software including Photoshop CS, Illustrator CS, Quark 4.x – 6.5, InDesign, Acrobat and CCI Layout. Excellent communications skills, attention to detail, and the ability to remain flexible in a tight, deadline-oriented, publishing atmosphere are essential. Requires a minimum 4 years experience in the publication design industry together with a vocational or Associates degree.
