Full Job Title: GMD Weapon Systems Operations Team, Software - Ft Greely Skills Management Title S/W & Computer Test/EvalJob Level: EXEMPTBusiness Component: Integrated Defense Systems (IDS)Job Description: This position is in support of the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Program, the Weapon System Operations (WSOPS) team. The desired candidate will perform the GMD Fire Control (GFC) transition director (TrD) duties when the GMD system transitions from a development configuration to/from an operational configuration. The GFC TrD will follow a scripted procedure and communicate over a communication network via a headset to communicate status of other parts of the distributed GFC system. When not performing transitions, this Support Engineer is expected to provide engineering support to the GFC operational system and its interfaces regarding issues, non-conformances, and impacts to the system. Engineering support consists of troubleshooting and customer support of software interfaces,VMF messages, communication (WAN, LAN, network) protocols, and application/network layer functions. This position will help in determining work-around approaches in response to maintenance actions and unique test configurations to ensure the downtime of the Operational System is minimized. This engineer will also be knowledgeable of the temporary design departures (TDDs) that are in place on the operational system and identify which ones are critical for removal in the event of a no-notice recall for transition to operations. This is a rotating shift position to provide 24/7 engineering support to the customer. Minimal travel expected. Both permanent and temporary assignments are available. Permanent assignment relocation plans may include relocation incentives, allowances, and benefits based on eligibility with Delta Junction being the preferred community. On base housing, single and family quarters, may also be available. Temporary assignments are also available and include a variety of incentives, allowances, and benefits including per diem, periodic company paid travel return to home base trips, and on site housing. Competencies Knowledge of software/hardware interrelationships to the overall system (e.g., real-time performance, system constraints, concurrency). The ability to quickly and accurately process multiple types of information and/or perform multiple tasks. The ability to use established physical, mechanical, or scientific principles and perform appropriate tests to identify and solve problems encountered on the job. This includes the ability to locate and isolate the problem, identify possible solutions, and select approaches that are practical and effective. The ability to communicate with technical personnel and assimilate technical information to gain an understanding of product technology, as well as the implications of internal processes that will the functional responsibilities of the occupation. Integrate software components (e.g., Boeing developed software, commercial-off-the-shelf software, subcontractor/supplier software, customer furnished software) by building the software system, executing the software, troubleshooting discovered defects within target environment (e.g., operational software/hardware, simulations, networks), and satisfying allocated requirements.Notes: OTHER: Applicants selected should have a current FINAL SECRET clearance, will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for accessing classified information. **Please indicate your current Security Clearance status and last date of review clearly on your resume.**
