GIS Specialist (UN094, $27.13 - $33.06) 24 month limited term

Inland Empire Utilities Agency is a state-of-the-art wastewater treatment/water reclamation public agency servicing seven member cities with a population of 700,000 in the west end of San Bernardino County. IEUA operates five regional wastewater treatment/water reclamation facilities that treat 57 million gallons of wastewater per day. The Agency owns a co-composting facility, a manure digestion facility, several domestic and industrial trunk and interceptor sewer lines and operates the Chino 1 Desalter.

Job Description: GIS Specialist

Under general supervision, the GIS Specialist is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Agency’s GIS program, developing and maintaining Agency GIS databases, updating the data, developing and maintaining GIS applications, providing GIS services to staff and supporting system users.

•Responsible for collecting, analyzing, standardizing and digitizing geospatial and tabular datasets
•Maintaining the accuracy of GIS databases and related documentation
•Developing, implementing and maintaining GIS applications
•Providing GIS support, services and products (maps, reports, etc.) to users
•Producing GIS-based analyses with accompanying graphics
•Providing training as required
•Responsible for maintaining the currency of the Agency’s GIS databases.
•Using GIS technologies, enters and manipulates system and attribute data from manual sources (maps, drawings, documents, etc.) and digital source records.
•Assists in the transfer of digital data to and from other agencies and consultants
•Assists Agency staff in utilizing GIS to produce maps, charts and other graphical data reports, as needed.
•Designs and edits custom queries, scripts, macros and other methods to meet customer needs.
•Provides staff training on the use of available GIS tools
REQUIREMENTS
Job Requirements:

•Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Sciences, or a related field
•California Class C drivers license
•Three years of GIS work experience using ESRI software to include designing, creating, maintaining and analyzing geospatial and tabular data, writing GIS script and/or application programs
•or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
•Specialized ESRI training in ArcGIS software including ArcInfo, ArcView, ArcIMS, and Visual Basic (VB), is desirable, as is GIS work experience in a public agency.
