GIS Administrator

Serve as a technical computer support resource to the staff for a variety of engineering and office software applications. Additional support duties include the administration of the District’s Local Area Network (LAN). Installs software and maintains the District’s computers, printers, and plotter systems

Develop and document computer programs and/or procedures to transfer various electronic data into a format compatible with the District’s database and GIS software. Develop and implement data backup, storage, virus scans, and recovery procedures.

Assemble, compile, and enter hydrogeologic, hydrologic, water quality, and other environmental data, both geographic and time series, pertaining to the Bunker Hill Basin and the District’s spreading operations; maintain and update the geographic data and tabular databases as required; modify the database structure to meet expanding demands.

Assists in preparing the Annual Engineering Investigation of the groundwater conditions of the District by gathering data from agencies within the basin and producing GIS based maps and exhibits.

Provide support in developing presentation materials, maps, and exhibits for all District programs using various graphics, mapping, and GIS software. Prepares GIS maps and exhibits for use by the District in presentations and reports.

Develops databases using Microsoft Access to better access the historical data. Develop and produce maps, tables, and reports to accurately and clearly display the water resources and environmental data contained in the database.

Build and manage the GIS database and IT systems for implementing Special Projects.

Collect GPS data of wells and other facilities for projects that the District is involved in.
Assists in maintaining the monitoring and measuring systems for water flow in the east end of the San Bernardino Valley.
REQUIREMENTS
Requirements:

2+ years experience in GIS field with increasing responsibility. Bachelors Degree or equivelant (work experience may be substituted) from colege or University with GIS courses, computer applications or water resource field.Modules in ARC/INFO and ArcView GIS software and Access and SQL Server Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) software. Vector and raster geographic data projections and processing. Principles and procedures of administering large regional databases.Principles of quality assurance/quality control of water resource and geographic data.Principles and procedures of Global Positioning System (GPS) data collection and analysis.Local area networks (LAN) and file transfer protocols.Word processing methods and techniques, spreadsheet and database programs, and graphic design software.
Skill to:
Operate computers, digitizers, plotters, tape drives, color printers, and GPS devices.
