The purpose of the department is to provide operational support of applications, infrastructure, and operating systems. Support includes incident management, change management, some monitoring, and some problem management. The Storage Administration team is responsible for implementing and executing all storage related change in the enterprise. Additionally, the Storage Administration team provides first and second level support for incident management and change management.The scope of this job is Storage Administration, which is responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Allstate's SAN, NAS, Brocade, Netbackup and HDS technologies. Additionally, Storage Administration will assist the Enterprise Storage Solutions group with disaster recovery (DR) processes. The candidate should be able to recognize and troubleshoot problems with SAN, NAS, Brocade, Netbackup and HDS hardware and applications software. Establishes and documents standards and procedures for management review.Requires extensive knowledge of computer operations. Candidates for this position must be innovative. Specifically, this candidate should have been able to create, implement or recommend process refinement opportunities, making the Storage Administration support model more efficient. The candidate must also be able to recognize automation opportunities as well that will reduce the amount of hands on support. The ability to follow instructions both written and verbal is paramount as well as the ability to multi-task. Candidates for this position must be self-managed, able to work in a team environment and need little or no supervision to be effective. Strong verbal skills are a must. Flexible work schedule is a must since the need to execute/implement change and incidents often occur during off-shift hours. Occasional travel is required.
The individual will be responsible for:
1. 24 x 7 support of Storage Administration systems, which includes the execution of change and incident management. The hours could include weekends, holidays and nights. Analyzes, troubleshoots and resolves storage related problems. Reviews and analyzes statistical data for performance tuning opportunities. 2. Specific Responsibilities: Provides day-to-day support of Storage. Participate in the on call rotation. Adherence to established Change and Incident Management guidelines, minimizing outages or service variations caused by change to the environment. The candidate should be able to take advantage of proactive monitoring/automation tools in order to eliminate outages or service variations.3. Physical Requirements: Able to handle the physical moving of hardware and cabling.
REQUIREMENTS
The skills required are:
1. Advanced - Basic Storage operational skills. The individual should have a command of basic Storage, Unix, Windows and Linux, i.e. display mount points, filesystems, workload, hardware, disk status, etc.2. Advanced - Basic Storage problem determination skills.
3. Intermediate - Knowledge of Unix and Windows
4. Advanced - Knowledge of HDS
5. Intermediate - HBSM, Creekpath and Linux
Experience Required:1. 3+ years of operational support in Information Technology experience in which one or more of the following has occurred: on call support, shift support, execution of multiple concurrent projects, experience in leading project teams to meet goals that included large system implementations or projects; administrative management of project teams a plus.2. 3+ years experience in the development, implementation and maintenance of systems across multiple hardware and software platformsComputer Proficiency:Microsoft Office Products including Visio and Project (required) and Access (a plus). Presentation experience with MS PowerPoint is also a plus.
