Embedded Software Developer - DSP

Embedded engineer needed with 3-5 years of real-time embedded software development experience to help port existing SDR (software defined radio) software from one hardware platform to another. This experience can be with any processor such as a DSP, RISC, or ARM. Both hardware platforms use TI DSPs but one is a TMS320C55 and the other is a TMS320C64. The IDE is Code Composer. The candidate should have a basic high level understanding of both signal processing and digital radio modulation fundamentals, but will not be involved with any signal processing algorithm development or implementation. The main job is to port the code, which is written in C and runs on TI's DSP BIOS, from one HW / FPGA platform to the other. This will involve modifications to the low level device driver C-language code that talks to the hardware and the FPGAs.
REQUIREMENTS
Skills:
- Must have 3-5 years of real time low-level embedded software development experience,
- Must have at least some architecture or design experience in addition to coding
- Must have some high-level understanding of basic signal processing and digital radio modulation concepts
- Detailed signal processing algorithm theory, design and implementation is NOT required or desired
- Must be proficient using analyzers, JTAG emulators, scopes, etc.

Environment:
- Must have experience with some/any kind of real time embedded processor (DSP, ARM, RISC, etc) and RTOS
- Must be proficient in C programming
- TI Code Composer IDE experience is a plus
- TI DSP BIOS experience is a plus
- TI TMS320C55 experience is a plus
- TI TMS320C64 experience is a huge plus
- DSP assembly language programming NOT required

Process:
- This project does NOT require any formal SDLC skills or experience.
- Requirements development, analysis, tracing, validation, verification, etc is NOT required
- Some minimal design documentation is required.
- Must be able to perform basic configuration management and software build activities

Domain:
- Candidates can come from a wide range of industies including telecom and avionics as long as they worked on a real time embedded (preferably signal processing related) product

Other:
- Must be able to clearly articulate and communicate ideas
- Must be able to describe how to design a real time system during the interview
- Will work as part of a small team of engineers
- Must be able to follow suggestions and design guidance
- Must be able to raise issues - not expected to solve them all but must raise them in a timely fashion
