Full Job Title: Dynamic Systems Modeler and Transport Industry Analyst Skills Management Title Customer AnalysisJob Level: EXEMPTBusiness Component: Commercial Airplanes (BCA)Job Description: The position is in a multi-disciplinary team that supports Boeing¿s participation in the US Commercial Aviation Partnership (US CAP). The team is responsible for developing assessments of the economic impact of proposed government policy initiatives on the air transportation system using a model that the team has developed and continues to update and enhance. The position will work under the direction of a project leader to continue to enhance the US CAP model and to operate the model to prepare assessments of the direct and indirect economic impact of policy initiatives on the air transportation system. The position will involve interaction with representatives and leaders from throughout the aviation industry, including airlines and airports as well as from within government. The position will often be responsible for communicating the results of the assessments within Boeing and to other participants in the US CAP. In the longer term, it is anticipated that the position will assume many of the leadership roles from the current project leader. More broadly, the position will be part of Boeing Commercial Airplanes¿ Market Analysis organization. Market Analysis plays a key role in several important processes including long term and near term forecasting, business and strategic planning, and product development. A position in the Market Analysis team offers interaction with peers and BCA leadership in addition to working together with external customers and suppliers. These can include representatives from industry and management consultancies, aerospace manufacturers, airlines, government agencies, industry associations, academia, and the media. The goal of the BCA Future Market is to be recognized for world class knowledge and thought leadership on the commercial air transportation market, and to provide sound advice and consultation to Boeing business units and leadership teams. Competencies The candidate should have a solid understanding of the competitive dynamics of the air transportation industry; especially airlines and airports, and an understanding of the business models of the industries ancillary to commercial air transport. Modeling skills must include the ability to ability to adjust models based on new perceptions of industry structure and behavior as well the ability to explain the model and its outputs to non-technical audiences. The candidate should understand system dynamics, and think in system dynamics terms. Over the long-term, the candidate must be capable of assuming the leadership and management of the Boeing portion of US CAP program. Additional preferred skills and experience include an understanding of economic and financial terms and indicators and ability to work with economic and financial data ? demonstrated history of developing and explaining ?simple? models of complex interactions ? commercial aviation industry experience, knowledge of the commercial aviation industry, airline competitive strategies, and industry regulations ? enjoy working in a environment of open communication, team collaboration and entrepreneurialism ? advanced proficiency in Excel and VBA; ? ability to recognize all sides of an issue and enunciate the pros and cons of each perspective. ? leadership skills with program management experience and ability to work with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.Notes: Prefer Bachelors Degree in Economics, Business, Mathematics, or Engineering).
