Director Mainframe & Midrange Systems Mgmt

Functional Area: US TechnologiesPosition Description: Direct a diverse technical staff that manages the server and storage infrastructure for both mainframe and distributed systems. Provides strategic focus on implementing hardware and software tools that support all airline business applications. Manages UNIX, Windows, and Mainframe systems for all aspects of the airline. Negotiates and administers enterprise software agreements of $25M annually. Ensures system reliability for all airline insourced and outsourced systems. Manages the storage area network and backup and restore procedures. Provides strategic technical direction for database platforms (Oracle, SQL, DB2). Leads system deployment projects for infrastructure and applications platforms including the prioritization process for internal staff and third parties. Manages assigned resources, scope, and costs to ensure objectives are met on time and within budget. Creates policy level direction regarding standards, processes and budget Negotiates and implements large scale out-source or co-source arrangements for IT services. Provides overall direction for assigned managers and project managers. Recommends use of outside contract resources as required, administers selected contracts to ensure department objectives are met. Participates in recruiting, selecting, and orientating new staff to the team. Facilitates employee development through creation of goals, setting expectations, giving performance feedback, and providing development opportunities.

Minimum 10 years experience in information technology environment
Background in various information system areas such as computer operations, enterprise project implementations, national, and international support
Experienced in the implementation of mainframe host systems, UNIX and Windows distributed systems, as well desktop platforms
Experience leading employees to meet department objectives
Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
