Desktop Technologies Analyst
This position is primarily responsible for leading, analyzing, designing, documenting technology tool changes to meet technical specifications for desktop tools, tool integration or modifications to existing desktop tools having a broad perspective on multiple technical/functional areas. The position provides consulting, training and support on the desktop tools architecture components and processes. The position supports the desktop tools and data, working in partnership with the user/client in meeting their business systems needs.Roles and Responsibilities Lead, specify, design, test and document desktop tools, standards and processes in support of desktop tool architecture using assignment-related programming, utilities, operating systems, databases and other tools.
Utilize an architecture review process to introduce changes to the Desktop Tools Architecture based on project requirements to ensure that it stays up-to-date and continues to evolve. Understand industry trends, emerging technologies and standards in order to evolve the Desktop Tools Architecture.
Conduct analysis activities, design and deploy desktop tools.
Provide consulting, leadership, training and support to end users who create customized implementations on the supported desktop tools architecture. Bring an enterprise architecture perspective to all IS initiatives. Ensure that a project complies with the Information Technology Architecture, ensuring reuse is maximized, and managing change to the Information Technology Architecture based on project requirements.
Inform the business strategy process of opportunities and constraints presented by the organization's current and potential technical architecture and capabilities.
Demonstrate full command of one or more platforms and disciplines, including, but not limited to, personal computer, database, network and client server.
Apply knowledge of corporate processes, services and products as it relates to assignments.
Apply knowledge of corporate computer applications, enterprise frameworks, architectures and systems architecture as it relates to assignments.
Responsible for producing and delivering high quality, fully tested computer products and services on schedule, within prescribed resource limits, and in accordance with client requirements and departmental standards.
Will be expected to lead medium to large complex projects.
Organize, plan, and coordinate the resources needed on projects by providing analysis, design, programming, and installation services.
Provide mentoring to junior staff.
Develops and carries out a Self-Development Plan.
Stay abreast of trends and new products and services in the Information Technology industry.
Will be expected to work closely with vendors to resolve issues with desktop tools.Position Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree is highly desirable in Computer Science, MIS, Mathematics, Engineering, Business or area of functional responsibility preferred, or equivalent work experience.
6+ years of IT work experience.
Microsoft certification preferred.
Expert in multiple desktop tools. See the Technology Tracker for current approved tools.
Strong experience with system development life cycle and project management principals.
Strong problem solving skills.
Strong analysis, design and coding skills.
Must be able to work at both a conceptual and detail level.
Must be a self-starter and able to work independently.
Strong leadership skills.
Background in Information Systems with additional professional training in areas of primary function (desktop tools).
Strong interpersonal skills.
Must have broad experience in business or interacting with business organizations.
Must have ability to influence and persuade others over whom there is not direct authority.
In depth knowledge/expert on more than one applications/functions with additional knowledge of application/function beyond current team.
