Laureate brings to its universities and students a global perspective blended with a local point of view, creating a truly multi-cultural, career-oriented educational experience.In this position you will have responsibility for all aspects of Oracle database administration as well as schema design, and deployment lifecycle via development, QA, and production databases. This includes core database administration and maintenance for production database servers for applications developed in-house, outsourced, or by outside vendors.Major responsibilities will include:Plan and design effective database and application server strategies.
Create scripts, stored procedures, triggers, or data transformation/sync packages as required.
Monitor databases and application servers for performance and perform tuning.
Installing, configuring, and regular database and application server system maintenance.
Database and application server health monitoring.
Schedule batch jobs and backups.Provide design recommendations for software/database architecture.Partner with IT team members to ensure a reliable database and application server environment.Plan database and application server security across multiple databases, servers, and applications
Manage clustered database and application server configuration.
Execute data copies and migrations; maintain parallel environments up to date.
Design, implement and support data archiving strategies.
Manage DR site replication and disaster recovery exercises.
REQUIREMENTS
To qualify you must have a BS in Computer Science/related field or equivalent experience. Applicant must have at least 5+ years experience in administration of Oracle Database Server. Knowledge of database design principles and when trade-offs are important. Good SQL and PL/SQL programming techniques and tuning/tracing. Experience in writing scripts and procedures.Ideal candidates will have:Experience in high-volume production administration of a business critical clustered Oracle database systems (10g RAC).Experience in design, testing, and implementation backup and recovery scenarios, including archiving, import/export and SAN snapshots.Experience in managing security, storage and data in a high-volume production environment.Experience in installation and upgrades of database systems in stand alone and cluster environments (10g RAC).Hands-on experience with db and application servers performance tuning and optimization for mission-critical production systems (Diagnostics and Tuning Packs).Experience in installation, upgrades and support of application server (AS 10g) systems using Oracle Forms.
Deep knowledge of AS Apache and it's interaction with MOD_PLSQL (WebTools) pages and J2EE containers.
Strong database development experience including data modeling, db schema design.Strong skills in writing and optimizing PL/SQL stored procedures, functions and triggers, including the use of MOD_PLSQL (WebTools).Solid experience with database replication, synchronization, and transformation (DataGuard).Knowledge of OLAP and Data Warehousing technologiesGood understanding of the best industry practices and standards related to Oracle database and application server.
Experience deploying full life-cycle enterprise-wide solutions.
