Database Administrator / DBA

Tech Star is current looking for an experienced DBA / Database Administrator to work with a large financial institution in Columbia, MD.

This group requires experience with focus on the ENGINEERING side.

The Database Analyst 4 is challenged to work on database administration, troubleshooting, participate with and manage database-related projects in a team-oriented environment.

1. RAC experience. Perform troubleshooting and technical support for database management issues in a timely manner.
2. Perform daily maintenance of the databases. This includes adding database users, configuring new production and development database environments, monitoring the databases, tuning the databases, new product installation, providing secure database environments that meet Wells Fargo policies, establish and maintain the database backup routines, and other database/system management tasks.
3. Ability to work within tight deadlines on multiple projects and assigned tasks.
4. Document database configurations, policies, and procedures.
5. Provide database management guidance and support for the developers and end customers.
6. Develop and maintain solid, industry-accepted database management practices for all databases.
7. Develop and maintain standards for database security and audit compliance.
8. Design and construct database configurations and environment.
9. Perform capacity assessment and planning.
10. Develop and maintain disaster recovery policies and procedures.
11. Ensure the integrity of systems and data.
12. Assess technology change and impacts in our environment.
13. Provide status updates for assigned tasks, problems, and solutions.
14. Maintain awareness of technology environment and assess potential impacts.
15. Perform ongoing assessment of database performance and identification of problem areas.
REQUIREMENTS
All candidates must have 5-7 years of administering SQL Server 2000 or Oracle 9i or higher databases, excellent communications skills, a strong customer service orientation and good understanding of client server architecture.

The DBA will support the development environment from a database configuration standpoint, perform periodic refreshes, create users, etc.
