The Data Warehouse Developer will promote data warehouse and data mart development and operations by practicing expertise in the DW/DM life cycles, including designing, developing and deploying both dimensional and relational models. The candidate will apply broad knowledge of data warehouse/BI techniques to design and build solutions that suit internal customer (end user) needs. The candidate will learn and understand the business processes, then translate the requirement of those into physical implementation design. The Data Warehouse Developer will be responsible for creating data models, requirements documents, technical design documents, source to target mapping documents, ETL modules, OLAP reports and testing documents. The candidate will also need to work with internal "systems experts" to locate required data that resides in operation systems so that the data can be mapped into new data warehousing data structures. The candidate must be knowledgeable and skilled in the use of the data extraction tool that is used to extract data from the transactional systems, "scrub" the data, and to populate the Data Mart. As appropriate the candidate will recommend changes to management to improve the performance of the Data Mart/Data Warehouse. This may include recommended architecture, hardware, support, data extraction, and query tool changes. The ideal candidate will have experience with Cognos Series 7 (Impromptu and PowerPlay) and/or Cognos 8 studio applications: Report Studio, Analysis Studio, Metrics Studio. The successful candidate must also have strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
REQUIREMENTS
5-10 years experience designing and developing data warehousing/BI solutions in a project team environment Experience in the use of data extraction (ETL) tools i.e. Informatica, DataStage Experience in the use of OLAP and query tools, primarily Cognos products
Experience with Oracle 9i DBMS Experience beneficial but not required: JavaScript, HTML, XML and Service Oriented Application ~cb~
