Job Description:
A Data Architect (DA) position in the development, enhancement, and support of a pharmacy data warehouse.

Responsibilities:
The DA is responsible for logical data design and implementation, facilitating both corporate data sharing and data security; Work with system architects, object modelers, business analysts and developers to ensure that the Logical Data Model accurately represents the requirements defined in the use cases, object models and interface control documents; Reviews, evaluates and coordinates requested changes to the model as new requirements and data elements are identified over time; Appropriately applies normalization rules and Data Warehouse modeling concepts delivering entity-relationship diagrams, data dependency and relationship matrices, volumetric and volatility analysis documents; Responsible for working directly with the Database Architect (DBA) to transform the Logical Data Model into a physical database that meets the performance, availability, and security requirements of the application while safeguarding the overall performance, availability, and security requirements of the system; Discusses strategies for both data integration (snapshots, replication, shared schemas, data access services) and database implementation (indices, hashing, caching, partitioning); Defines standards and best practices for both online and batch data access; Designs and works directly with developers to implement loads and extracts from the database using Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) tools.

Qualifications:
B.S. in Computer Science or other technical degree; 6+ years of IT application or data warehousing development experience; Excellent communication skills; Experience in the analysis and development of a data warehouse or data warehousing applications; Hands-on experience in ErWin, AbInitio, Business Objects, Teradata, and the understanding of Metadata Management concepts.
