Data Warehouse Analyst

Department: Information TechnologyDescription:The main focus of the Business Analyst position is to support the business community by transforming business analytics into concise and meaningful reports that can be used to enhance business decisions. This person will work very closely with the business community and Data Warehouse Development group to define processes as well as look at the content and how it can be used to better support the user community. The Business Analyst is responsible for interfacing with the business user to facilitate the definition of business rules and requirements. He/she will then be responsible for thoroughly understanding these processes in order to transform these business rules into functional specifications that can be used in report design, testing, user acceptance, training and support. This includes the creation of end-to-end report deliverables including but not limited to Impromptu, PowerPlay and ReportNet solutions, requirements gathering, end user training, and report/data documentation. The ideal candidate will have experience with Cognos Series 7 (Impromptu and PowerPlay) and/or Cognos 8 studio applications: Report Studio, Analysis Studio, and Metrics Studio. The successful candidate must also have strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
REQUIREMENTS
4 year college degree 2-3 years experience designing and developing reporting solutions in a project team environment Self-starter who is comfortable talking to individuals or groups and being able to lead discussions regarding business rules and requirements Excellent written, oral analytical skills - anticipate problems, identify issues and develop solutions Experience beneficial to the position but not required: General understanding of Data Warehousing concepts and techniques Experience using complete set of Cognos tools, Impromptu, PowerPlay and ReportNet Basic knowledge of HTML, XML, JavaScript and Service Oriented Applications
