Data Processing Specialist

Telematch, a computer service bureau specializing in data/database services, is seeking a Data Processing Specialist. The Data Processing Specialist is responsible for the daily receipt and transfer of client data, examining and reformatting client files based upon client requirements. The Data Processing Specialist is also responsible for batch processing of basic Telematch production jobs and general internal client support.

The Data Processing Specialist position requires a degree in computer programming or a related field and at least one year of formal data processing training required. At least 1-2 years related experience in a service bureau environment preferred. Help desk/tech support experience is a plus.

Required responsibilities of the Data Processing Specialist include:

(1)Receipt and transmission of client data, including examination and reformatting of client files based upon client requirements and/or processing of basic Telematch production jobs.
(2)Provide assistance, suggestions and training on system input and output requirements to Telematch clients, to include file structure, software and hardware requirements and transfer procedures.
(3)Analyze client programming requests and investigate possible errors. Consult with programmers to resolve problems.
(4)Prepare job documentation such as work orders, layouts and summaries of job specifications for client files.
(5)Evaluate new software/hardware and techniques to assist in the automation and productivity of the position and company as a whole.

REQUIREMENTS
Required skills and abilities include:

(1)Knowledge of PC’s and Windows operating systems.
(2)Knowledge of data conversion techniques.
(3)Working knowledge of dBase, Data Junction, Microsoft Office, PGP, WS_FTP, and zip utilities or some combination required.
(4)Familiarity/experience with UNIX and Informix is helpful.
(5)Must have good verbal, written and analytical skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
