Data Analyst/DBA

The position is for a Senior Sybase Database Administrator. Responsibilities include building and supporting multiple Sybase databases for several development and testing environments. The job requires DBA experience working with Sybase ASE 12.5 and Sun Solaris UNIX. Strong written and verbal communication skills are also required as the job requires the candidate to interface with many development and testing teams, as well as with production DBAs.

· In addition to strong Sybase DBA and UNIX skills, the candidate must also be willing to learn to use many home-grown tools used to build test database environments and interface with our source code control software.

· Off-hours support and sharing a pager with other DBAs is required.

· Required skills include the following:

· Must have at least 5 years experience working as a Sybase DBA on Sybase ASE 12.5 on a Sun Solaris platform

· Knowledge of Sybase 15 is desirable

· Working experience with Sybase utilities such as Dump/Load, Reorg/Rebuild, Reorg/Compact, DBCC, BCP.

· Proficient in building and maintaining Sybase Servers in a multi-database environment.

· Proficient in UNIX shell scripting, Perl and programming stored procedures in Sybase.

· Proficient in database performance tuning, security, backup and r ecovery, and trouble shooting.

· Strong inter-personal skills. The job requires interfacing among various developments, testing and system administration organizations.

Strong written communication skills, especially in technical writing. The job will require documenting installation procedures for production DBAs
