GRADE: E HRS PER SHIFT:8
WORK WEEK: 5 daysFollow established procedures to operate and monitor the processing of data, system backups, peripheral and auxiliary equipment. Meet standards of quality and maintain good relations within the department as well as all other departments.
- Process and monitor daily scheduled jobs using Tivoli on HP-UX Unix servers.
- Monitor HP-UX Unix, Novell and Windows system backups using Data Protector.
- Monitor LAN backups using ArcServe and Veritas.
- Maintain all hardware and escalate necessary maintenance calls to vendors.
- Weekend and after hour support.
- Monitor and escalate Help Desk calls per SOP.
- Ensuring that all audit requirements are met. This includes:
- Accurate Turnover entries per SOP:
- Entering all relevant backups and failures.
- Entering all relevant batch jobs. - Entering all other required jobs and notes per SOP.
- Following proper call escalation procedures per SOP.
- Following proper Tape Library procedures.
- Following proper procedures for sending out and receiving tapes off-site.- Following proper NOC door combination change procedures.
REQUIREMENTS
REQUIREMENTS:- Entry level position with the Metals industry working as a help desk, back up computer systems person. No prior experience required.- Ability to use Microsoft-Office products.
- Any Unix education or training a plus.
- Ability to work all shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime.
- Satisfactory communication skills; both verbal and written.
- Have or be working towards an Associate of Arts degree with emphasis in Computer Science.
