Job Description:
The Communications Manager manages and plans client relationship activities associated with information design and business change initiatives, and supports projects for the Information Technology (IT) group and other firm clients. This professional formulates strategies, defines project scopes and objectives, and manages staff to ensure client satisfaction. This position requires an authoritative understanding and interpretation of Ernst & Young’s communication policies and standards, and a very high degree of understanding of key information delivery technologies with emphasis on Web-based tools and supporting desktop applications. Responsibilities Develop comms plans that outline the scope, risks, dependencies, deliverables, and milestones, as necessary. Maintain a high-level of awareness of Ernst & Young's technology goals and objectives, and of the media through which these goals and objectives are presented. Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of information delivery technologies used in the enterprise environment with emphasis on group collaboration and project support. Provide internal consulting and resource services to facilitate best practices and participate in organizational and firmwide committees for knowledge sharing to benefit the organization and the area. Communicate regularly with clients to identify business needs and ensure client satisfaction. Be responsible for the selection and performance management of staff members. Responsible for defining and delivering the communications required on assigned projects, ensuring that a formal communications plan is created and executed to support global technology deployments. At a high level, this involves the following: Represent and champion the values and mission of Global IT Provide communication-planning information and status updates to team members; project stakeholders, and management Ensure appropriate communications are developed and sent to Area IT representatives in support of deploying global applications and infrastructure services Identify areas of improvement and/or refinement of current communication processes, methodologies and tools Review all GTech Guide documentation written for technologists supporting of the deployment of products and services Review all end user materials that support global deployments Contribute articles and other content to the Global IT Report newsletter Promote and drive adoption of Global IT standard service delivery tools and containers, which include: Global IT Communications Database GTech Guide Country Technology Web site Global Initiatives Report In addition to project work, the communications team: Manages and evangelizes the publication of a global technology newsletter, the Global IT Report, and an infrastructure based newsletter, Global Infrastructure Solutions Refines and promotes the communication processes that are used within the Global IT Communications Database Champions global communication standards and processes to the larger technology community Liaisons with communications leaders in both Area and Global models to ensure that message to local IT organizations remain consistent Manages internal communications within GCCD and the larger, Global IT organization.Ernst & Young LLP, an equal opportunity employer, values the diversity of our work force and the knowledge of our people.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: To qualify, candidates must have: a bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Writing, Communications or a related discipline; or equivalent work experience approximately 8-10 years of related work experience including 3-5 years in corporate communications. International exposure in previous job is a plus. Skills: — Sound judgment, tact, diplomacy, and decision-making ability — Dynamic personality that can establish the appropriate presence within a virtual team meeting — Solid writing skills — Logical thought process and good business judgment — Good management, interpersonal, communication, presentation, and organizational skills — Ability to negotiate, persuade and influence others — Confident in oneself to ensure that all standards and processes are adhered to on all organizational levels — Proven ability to work and team effectively with clients and other management personnel — Ability to work independently, on multiple projects at the same time, in a fast-paced environment — Knowledge and understanding of technology including its impact on end users — Proficient in Microsoft Office and Lotus Notes applications — comprehensive knowledge of information technologies, and print and online authoring systems — excellent management, client service, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills — ability to work and team effectively with clients and other management personnel Good to have: Graphic skills in PhotoShop and Adobe Acrobat It is also necessary to have a flexible approach to hours required and to be culturally sensitive and aware. Occasional international travel required.
