Client Desktop Analyst
You will create, deploy, maintain, and provide as needed support for all standard notebook and desktop images. Document image creation process, software installation procedures, and test plans. Coordinate testing of the standard image as it relates to change management, create scripts to automate the image creation process with the long-term goal of fully automating process and work with faculty software configuration needs to create, maintain and provide as needed support for all lab and classroom images. You will proactively evaluate, test, and make recommendations for new hardware and software, including service packs and security patches, to ensure compatibility within our computing environment. Maintain and continually standardize existing PC management technologies including Ghost, SMS (Patch Management), Active Directory Group Policies, and DeepFreeze. Perform as the technical lead for engineering and integration in projects involving the image. As a member of Level 3 support, work closely with Level 1 and Level 2 in order to resolve tickets in a timely manner while identifying proactive measures, whenever possible, to reduce or eliminate similar tickets in the future. Test and deploy monthly Microsoft security patches using SMS.
Extensive technical knowledge of desktop hardware and software as well as current knowledge of trends in desktop computing, LANs, client/server architecture, and application integration is required. The ability to multi-task, manage shifting priorities, and work in a rapid, constantly evolving environment is expected. In addition excellent interpersonal skills, thorough technical knowledge, strong analytical skills and a good understanding of R&D and QA practices are required. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and possess a strong desire to learn new applications and technologies as well as be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
REQUIREMENTS
Requirements:
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in CIS or a related technical field and 5+ years of relevant work experience. MCSE certification is desired. The ideal candidate will also possess the following:
· Proven hands on experience creating and maintaining desktop images using Symantec Ghost or a similar package
· Experience managing Active Directory Group Policies
· Experience with security patch deployment technologies (SUS/WSUS/SMS)
· Extensive knowledge of operating system fundamentals as well as basic networking fundamentals (WINS/DHCP/DNS) for the purposes of troubleshooting
· Experience using Sysprep and BDD to consolidate images is desired.
· Scripting experience using the following languages and technologies (ADSI/WMI/VBScript/WSH/) is desired
