CHOPlink Project Director - Specialty Care

If you're looking to join a pediatric institution as your employer of choice, you need to look at the best in the nation.The CHOPlink Project Director - Specialty Care is the person responsible for the overall coordination and management of the charter, objectives, scope, timing, budget, and delivery of large complex CHOPlink projects to achieve tactical and strategic enterprise benefits.The CHOPlink Project Director - Specialty Care is responsible for planning, managing and controlling all work being performed by the individual CHOPlink work teams comprising the project structure. The Project Director will continually and consistently coordinate with the project managers heading up the individual work teams, including having full responsibility for the development and ongoing management of the overall project master plan. The Project Director will report project activity to the CHOPlink Program Director but will direct the project under the guidance of the Executive Sponsors for the project.The CHOPlink Project Director - Specialty Care, in cooperation with medical and nursing leadership identify, develop and oversee the administrative operations of the Specialty Care Centers and services. This individual works collaboratively with the clinical leaders to insure smooth coordination between the administrative and clinical functions in an ambulatory setting. The Director works with various departments of the Hospital in planning, marketing and developing new centers, services and programs and ensures on-going success of specialty care efforts in terms of meeting Hospital goals, improving community health and strengthening physician/patient ties to CHOP.Although the CHOPlink Project Director- Specialty Care is responsible for all the work teams, it is not necessary that he/she be expert regarding the tools and techniques being used within the individual teams. The responsibilities of the Project Director are at a higher level. The Project Director will rely on the individual project managers to ensure that the business and technical activities being carried out are being done correctly, completely and on schedule. The Project Director will be concerned with those issues that affect multiple teams and with managing the relationships with business owners and users as well as Executive Sponsors. Effective written and oral communications with and between business executives, IS executives, Project Managers, other Project teams and with the Program Oversight committee are fundamental to effectiveness and success. Regular status reports to all concerned executives and team members are a core responsibility.Core Competencies should include:

REQUIREMENTS
Master’s in Business Administration or Health Care Administration
Eight years of management experience in a healthcare setting
Extensive knowledge of the theory and practice of project management as it applies primarily to coordination and control of resources and multiple projects
A degree of familiarity with the scope of the enterprise, the strategic and operating plans, project challenges and resource capabilities sufficient to judge the appropriate boundaries and interaction points of the various teams within the project
A degree of familiarity with the tools and techniques used within the various teams sufficient to understand the progress reports being submitted by the various project managers
The ability to create a high degree of trust between himself/herself and the various application users, and the capability to act as the interface between these user communities and the project teams involved in the project
Has the experience, vision, authority and seniority that is commensurate with the significance of the business program and project complexity
Have analytical and business knowledge to determine the impact of requested changes and to thoroughly understand the reasons behind requests
Minimum of 10 years experience in healthcare operations, information systems, major deployments or equivalent
Formal Project Management training and experience.
