Business Systems Analyst

Job Overview:

Works in conjunction with Business Units to define business requirements and create information systems solutions. Participates in information systems evaluations and provides input to business unit in information systems selection processes. Gathers user reporting requirements and develops appropriate reports as necessary. Administers systems as necessary to ensure systems meet business needs. The focus of this position will be mainly on revenue cycle related information systems and business processes.

Job Responsibilities:

• Works with business users to document scope statements, define business requirements, perform analysis and assist in recommending and building new systems or improvements and redesign of current systems.
• Implements systems change recommendations as necessary.
• Participates in workgroup sessions, applies business experience and analytical skills to define recommendations and improve processes.
• Works with development staff to evaluate system packages, interview vendors, document functional requirements and recommend system solutions.
• Works with project management to develop project plans, communication plans, risk analysis, schedules and other project management deliverables.
• Provides status reporting to the stakeholders and project managers.
REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience Required:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field is required.
• A minimum of four (4) years in business and information systems experience is required. Experience with healthcare patient accounting systems is strongly preferred.

Competencies and Attributes Required:

• Working knowledge of MS tools, including MS Office products (Access, Project, Visio, Excel), SQL, Toad, and reporting tools such as Crystal Reports, Microsoft Reporting Services, etc.
• Knowledge of relational data base concepts required.
• Must be able to provide excellent customer service with a friendly attitude.
• Must be adept at communicating with users at all levels of the organization and analyzing systems and business processes.
• Must be able to analyze current business processes, define new ways of doing business and document clear recommendation for change.
• Ability to meet deadlines, multi-task, problem-solve and identify and use appropriate technology to solve business problems.
• Must have strong communications skills, both verbal and written.
• Project management experience in an information systems environment is preferred.
