Assistant Project Manager

To provide additional senior-level support to support SCNI project management and operations.Duties:
Provide vision and direction for the APL classified networking infrastructures. Manage day-to-day operations of multiple, classified networks and related management systems, applications servers and security monitoring equipment. Ensure strict adherence to DOD and APL security requirements, while working as part of APL Laboratory Security Team. Meet with customers (users) to determine requirements and to provide solutions. Create capital and overhead project plans and manage the execution of the projects.
REQUIREMENTS
Required:
Possess a BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Telecommunications Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and work experience in a networking field. A detailed knowledge and demonstrated use of DOD security requirements is required. Prior project management experience as well as broad technical experience in the following areas: internet protocol networking, digital communications, traffic engineering, switching/routing systems; structured cabling systems, and communication standards and equipment. Experience in building and leading a strong technical team in an IT related field. Interact with individuals of diverse technical and administrative backgrounds; have sound written and verbal communications skills, demonstrate emotional maturity in dealing with others in times of stress; be a self-motivated individual and have the desire to enhance current skills while paying attention to detail and the attitudes of the user. Candidate must possess a DOD secret-level clearance and must be able to obtain a clearance at the Top Secret level.Desired:
Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Telecommunications Engineering. Also, a broad knowledge of desktop and server systems, network management and other networking and server technologies (DNS, DHCP, Microsoft Exchange, data back-up systems).
Experience with DOD encryption devices. Familiar with DOD enterprise networks, such as SIPRNET. Experience with configuration and management of Cisco switches, routers and firewalls.
