Application Developer/Deployment Specialist

We seek a talented IT professional for a unique contract to hire project located in Chicago (North Side). Titled Application Developer/Deployment Specialist, your role will include development, deployment, and maintenance of web applications and web sites using ASP.NET, Classic ASP, SQL Server 7.0/2000, VB scripting, and Java scripting in a Windows environment. Other responsibilities include troubleshooting and correcting problems with applications and sites, coding and testing of software, and serving as a resource for centralized deployment activities. Additional responsibilities:

* Perform maintenance and support of existing web sites, web applications and software. Test software and website maintenance changes in preparation of acceptance testing.

+Work closely with the infrastructure group to deploy web servers. (Writing scripts, dealing with permission issues, etc.)

*Conduct problem determination for existing web sites and web applications running on production and staging servers. Make necessary fixes to resolve issues.

*Perform the setup and deployment of web sites and applications to staging and production servers and serve as a resource for centralized deployment activities.

*Implement and code software and web sites to meet stated project requirements. Perform unit and integration testing.

*Perform code reviews to ensure artifacts meet requirements and standards. Log and resolve code review issues and action items.
Adapt and applies standards for application development. Promote standards with the application development competency area.

*Provide technical analysis and design for application development. Participate in project planning and estimating activities as requested by project management and application architects.

*Make additions to libraries of common reusable code and component libraries. Prepares and maintains documentation for common components.

REQUIREMENTS
Required Skills: 5+ years of experience in web site and web application development technologies and tools including, but not limited to ASP, ASP.NET, C#, VB Script, JavaScript, CSS, XML, HTML, MS Visual Studio.NET & 2005. 3+ years previous experience with web site and web application deployment to staging and production server environments. Strong working knowledge of Server 2000, 2003, IIS 5.0 and/or 6.0, and MS Site Server. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 7, and 2000. Experience with is a plus. Experience with documentation and source code repository tools such as MS SharePoint and Visual SourceSafe 2005. Prior experience working in a large, corporate IT organization.

Desired Skills: SQL Server 2005, Experience with formal software development processes/procedures, configuration management, and change control boards is highly desired.
