Join the Thresholds team!The Supported Employment Coordinator will collaborate with the vocational team, residential staff, case management staff, Thresholds Day Program, other vocational programs and the Illinois Department of Rehabilitation Services to provide vocational preparation and training, job placement when possible and on-going vocational counseling for mentally ill deaf members. This person will supervise members participation in Thresholds Day Program; co-lead placement meetings at Thresholds; team meetings; money and paperwork for ADL program; meet with local DORS counselor to access progress of open clients; refer new members to DORS and complete all required DORS paperwork.This person may be on-call to attend to any vocational emergencies, intervening with collateral sources, agencies, bureaucracies, facilities and families on the members behalf; performing crisis intervention services as needed; devising treatment and rehabilitation plans; assisting with the intake of new members; providing or arranging for the provision of concrete resources and services needed by the members; working cooperatively with impatient hospital staff; keeping logs and other records of all in person and telepho9ne contacts; completing all paperwork for Thresholds &* DHS and other agencies programs; assisting the members with the money management; interpreting in informal situations for members with individuals who cannot sign; maintaining a good working relationship with the deaf community and other rehabilitation agencies and hiring sign language interpreters as assigned.
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor or Masters degree in Deaf Rehabilitation counseling/Social Work or related field.
Must be fluent in American Sign Language
Experience in mental health or social service field also preferred, but not required
Experience with the deaf and an understanding of deaf cultureRequirements, Responsibilities and/or Duties Unique to the Position:
Use of own vehicle and 100,000/300,000 bodily injury liability insurance. Must be flexible with work schedule (Days/Evenings/Weekends)
