SUMMARY: Manages the administration of various employee benefit plans such as life, health, dental, and disability insurances, pension plans, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and unemployment by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned.
· Plans and directs implementation and administration of employee benefit programs such as health insurance, disability insurance, life insurance, workers compensation, employee assistance, re-tirement, and other plans.
· Prepares and communicates information to employees and former employees about benefit pro-grams, procedures, changes, and government-mandated disclosures.
· Analyzes and evaluates services, coverage, and options available through insurance and invest-ment companies to determine programs best meeting needs of organization.
· Provides services to employees to answer their benefit questions, resolve problems related to ac-cess to or payment of benefits, orient newly eligible employees, and process enrollment forms, changes, and loan requests.
· Maintains employee benefits data in automated human resources information systems.
· Coordinates transfer of data to external vendors, plan providers, auditors, and consultants.
· Notifies employees of changes in benefit programs.
· Recommends benefit plan changes to HR Management
· Prepares and submits government-mandated reports.
· Audits benefit plans for compliance with government regulations.
· Maintains knowledge of and analyzes government regulations, benefit program trends and prevail-ing practices among similar organizations.
· Analyses benefits experience for cost-control and risk assessment factors.
· Consuls with managers and health care professionals to evaluate the need for, develop, and im-plement accommodations, return to work, light duty and other responses for disabled employees.
· Recommend and monitors budget allocations for employee benefits.
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in related field; minimum 5 years experience in Benefits with increasing responsibility.
· Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, ability to deal effectively with people at all levels, inside and outside of the organization.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
· Excellent organizational skills.
· Ability to make decisions according to rules, regulations and procedures.
· Strong computer skills including Microsoft office and HRIS system savvy.
· Uses discretion in handling confidential/sensitive information.
· Knowledge of government regulations, benefit program trends, and prevailing practices.
