Setup Configuration Analyst

The Setup Configuration Analyst is responsible for configuring and testing Hewitts proprietary Total Benefits Administration (TBA) system to meet the needs of our clients requirements. Configuring involves using proprietary systems and tools to set up and configure tables/parameters in the TBA system as defined by analysis from the Systems Analyst (SA). Testing involves the preparation of test cases and test data and execution of test activities based on the direction from the Systems Analyst. This role is designed as an entry-level position for applicants with strong skill sets in programming logic, systems configuration, and testing related to systems that support human resource functions. Responsibilities fall into these primary categories:

System Development
Estimating tasks. The Setup Configuration Analyst helps identify the information resources required to execute the test plan and provides that information to the Systems Analyst. During the testing process, he or she notifies the Systems Analyst immediately upon identifying any issues that can affect the project schedule.

Implementation/setup. The Setup Configuration Analyst role varies somewhat between practices (Defined Contribution, Defined Benefit, and Health & Welfare) by events and provisions for the practice and the client. Based on system specifications, he or she uses the appropriate tools to create or modify the tables for the plan provisions. With these tools, he or she creates and tailors all of the foundation needs (e.g., statuses, pay, service, and organizations) and sets up or tailors event provisions, Personalized Communication Statements (PCSs), eTBA (a proprietary Hewitt tool), and changes to the interface.

Test planning. The Setup Configuration Analyst may assist the Systems Analyst in creating a detailed unit test plan to test all conditions by adding test case details needed for the specific event. He or she must understand the expected result. He or she participates in the test plan review lead by the Systems Analyst.
Preparing test cases. The Setup Configuration Analyst prepares test cases (conditions and data) to be used to execute all testing (unit, integration, acceptance, and regression) according to the plans. Conversion data must be used to ensure all conditions in the test plan are executed.

Executing the test plan. The Setup Configuration Analyst executes the test conditions in the test plan on schedule. He or she verifies that all test results match the expected results specified in the test plan. For unexpected results, he or she investigates and solves the issue. If he or she is unable to resolve, the issue is documented and a request for assistance is sent to the Systems Analyst. After a defect is repaired, he or she re-tests the areas affected by the problem. He or she then repeats this process, following up on each problem until it is resolved.

Production Support
Implementation and ongoing production support. He or she monitors the system status of aligned Shared Services and practice-specific applications. Other daily support tasks include managing production problems, identifying ways to improve the efficiency of processing, responding to workflow requests, and answering questions from other members of the client team.

Production support and documentation. He or she participates in the Implementation Delivery Group providing 24-hour support for production processing, production issues (data and event), manages downtime processing, and monitors efficiencies and data integrity. He or she provides support for ongoing team resources, such as event access and workflow resolution. These responsibilities include communicating the impact and resolution of production issues to the client team.
