Senior UNIX administrator
Experienced UNIX administrator needed to join a large growing global UNIX Admin team supporting over a growing environment (300+ Servers.) Primary UNIX OS is Solaris, but some Linux (SuSe and Redhat), AIX and HP also exists.
This Admin will provide a wide variety of Unix systems administration services.
Responsibilities include basic and complex administrative tasks, resource and capacity administration, product administration and support, leading medium-sized initiatives, shell scripting, Apache Web server administration, Vertas Cluster and File system Management, maintenance of monitoring and logging systems, and participating in projects sponsored with and by other organizational units (Print, Security, Disaster Recovery, Capacity Planning, Network, SAN/NAS, Database, and various business groups). Additional responsibilities include creating and updating documentation relating to many aspects of Unix systems administration work, as well as performing complex configuration and performance analysis tasks. The associate in this position has significant responsibility for daily, and is expected to work independently under general management direction.
General Responsibilities
Performs complex and routine administrative tasks under the general supervision of a manager or senior administrator.
Creates and maintains documentation.
Performs complex troubleshooting, configuration, and performance analysis tasks.
Assigned responsibilities for deep technical support, asset and license management, and end-user support for specific tools and products.
Provides on-call operational and technical support on a rotating schedule.
Processes service requests for standard and complex Unix services.
Participates in projects of all sizes. Represents the Unix systems administration group on project teams.
REQUIREMENTS
Education
A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Work Experience
More than three years of system administration experience. People management experience is a plus.
Off Hours Support
Primary/secondary on call once every 12 weeks (Third level support to On-site Support)
