Chartered in 1746, and known as the College of New Jersey until 1896, it was British North America's fourth college.Position Summary: The Department of Molecular Biology Manager of Human Resources is responsible for administering all personnel issues for both the Human Resources and Dean of the Faculty Professional Research and Technical staffs. This position oversees and manages the hiring processes for both these staffs, including postdocs, research specialists, faculty assistants, lab assistants, animal care staff and administrative staff; often acts as advisor to faculty on human resources issues. With the Academic Manager this individual is responsible for the annual salary review for a combined staff of over 185. This position additionally monitors and handles leaves of absence, temporary disability issues and related paperwork. This individual will be responsible for the reclassification and promotion process for all staff and both identify and support recognition of staff. This position oversees the Assistant Personnel Manager and 13 faculty assistants and includes work assignments, providing support, solving problems, and tracking attendance. This individual is responsible for maintaining personnel information in the department's database, create, print and distribute a variety of lists/reports for specific purposes.Job Function: Administrative or ProfessionalGrade: ADM 060Standard Hours: 36.25Eligible for Overtime: NoJob Requirements
Essential Qualifications: Position requires a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5-6 years of experience in Human Resources. Prior Academic experience preferred. The successful candidate must have the ability to manage relationships throughout a large complex Department, be effective in both written and oral communications, and must have flexibility and resourcefulness to work effectively with all levels of staff within the department and the University. Must be discrete in handling confidential and sensitive counseling issues. This position requires a very service oriented individual to be successful. This position requires demonstrated leadership, problem-solving and decision-making skills, along with experience in the supervision and monitoring of staff relations and development. Excellent database, spreadsheet and word-processing skills, preferably Access, Excel, and Word.Education Required: Bachelor's Degree
