This position is for a Medical Leader with responsibility for our North America Baby and Family Care and Global IAMS businesses. This position will also have responsibilities for occupational health management of upstream technologies in an R&D setting. The purpose is to support business needs through insuring the company's employees are optimally productive through provision of health services and counseling. The Medical Leader provides assurance that employees are fit for their positions and that they are protected from workplace hazards. The Medical Leader also protects the key technologies and processes of the company through attention to health surveillance and prevention programs. The Medical Leader assures that all medical laws and regulations are being complied with in all sites under his/her authority. This position will report to the Medical Leader for Household Care with functional reporting to the Corporate Medical Director for R&D issues, and to the Global Medical Leader for Baby & Family Care. The position also receives functional direction from HR leaders of NA Baby and Family Care and Global IAMS.



This position:


demands a population-based focus and will provide strategic direction and assures organizational capability to meet the health systems needs of the businesses and its employees.


does not have a major requirement that the candidate have experience in clinical medical support.


assures that corporate governance expectations in health systems are being met in the respective businesses.


is expected to manage certain global medical systems on the part of the company.


provides occupational health stewardship to all business units within the company and to R&D - related processes and technologies.


maintains an appropriate level of knowledge to meet the company business and health assurance needs .


serves as a technical resource to site and supporting personnel on medical questions relating to products and process.


maintains sufficient involvement in scientific publications and meetings to assure adequate Company input on scientific opinion and regulatory/legislative positions on the business unit technology to meet the business needs.


ensures all site capability assessments are made in a calibrated manner.


assists in employee health allegation resolution and works with Product & Regulatory Safety organization on defense of consumer products from a medical perspective.


works with the supported business's Human Resources and Health, Safety & Environment organization to insure integration of programs.


integrates work with North American market development organization to alignment with North American objectives.


supervises health systems managers in carrying out their site health system capability development responsibilities.


follows the Purpose, Vision and Principles of the company, as well as the ethical standards of the profession, in carrying out the responsibilities of the position.


This position requires:


Board certification in Occupational Medicine or Board Certification in another Preventive Medicine specialty (Aerospace Medicine or Preventive Medicine & Public Health) with residency training in the same specialty.


A minimum of 5 years experience in Occupational Medicine with special emphasis on population management, with superior performance in the design and execution of complex occupational health programs with industry experience preferred.


The ability to work as an integrated partner with medical, HR, and Safety organizations as well as business leaders. Must work with others in a team fashion, contributing medical and business perspectives when needed, and meeting team contribution obligations in a timely manner.


The ability to travel to sites and meetings occurring across North America, with occasional travel to other regions of the world. Some travel may be occasionally required during weekends.


Excellent technical writing skills and demonstration of good communication abilities.


Experience in developing and conducting training for both professional and lay persons.


Capability in obtaining mandated Continuing Medical education credits focused on keeping current in the field of occupational medicine according to State and Federal regulations.


Excellent understanding and working knowledge of standard office computer programs including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint, as well as be conversant in email usage.


Experience with working with population databases in the conduct of epidemiological investigations.


An understanding of the laws and regulations pertaining to occupational health practice in the United States, as well as familiarity with similar laws in other jurisdictions in which the respective business conducts operations.


Working knowledge of toxicology, epidemiology and statistics.


Some clinical background is desirable.


Experience in acquiring , developing and presenting health metrics.


Completion of graduate level courses in finance/accounting and management are also desirable, but nor required.


An ability to obtain an license to practice medicine within the State of Ohio.


A current unencumbered license in the state in which the applicant is currently practicing is required.


Must be Board-certified in Occupational Medicine and trained in an occupational medicine residency.
