HUMAN RESOURCES SUPERVISOR - SRO HOUSING
ORGANIZATION:Single Room Occupancy Housing Corporation (SRO Housing) was established in February 1984. It is a private, nonprofit, community-based organization, which is dedicated to building a healthy community for homeless and very low-income individuals in Los Angeles’ Central City East neighborhood--more commonly known as “Skid Row”. SRO pursues its mission of community revitalization by providing clean, safe and affordable housing, managing public space, and administering needed social support services.
To achieve this goal, SRO Housing strives to preserve the existing turn-of-the-century, single-room-occupancy hotels in downtown Los Angeles. It purchases these hotels and completely renovates and refurbishes them as well as constructs new ones.
SRO Housing has an annual budget in excess of $ 11,000,000. It has a paid staff of approximately 170, as well as a substantial number of volunteer staff.POSITION PURPOSE:The Human Resources Supervisor gives direct support to the Human Resources Director and supervises two employees, the Human Resources Clerk and Office Receptionist. Supervisory responsibilities are carried out in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. The Human Resources Supervisor is responsible for administering a variety of department activities that includes benefits administration, recruitment and interviewing, worker’s compensation, new hire orientations and exit interviews. The Human Resources Supervisor is responsible for overseeing other activities such as performance appraisals, generation of monthly reports and all general company policies and procedures, such as ethics, dress code, training schedule, etc to all new employees.
The candidate must have a strong generalist background, be organized, detailed oriented and possess excellent computer skills as well as strong verbal/written communication skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Administer benefits programs such as medical, dental, life, LTD, pension and EAPAdminister worker’s compensation program, including initial reporting as well as follow-up.Administer recruitment program which includes processing personnel requisitions, job postings, and interviewing.
Supervise H.R. Clerk and Receptionist including conducting annualperformance evaluations.Conduct New Hire Orientations and Exit Interviews.Oversee Leave of Absences including leaves for worker’scompensation, disability and FMLA.Supports the department administratively as required includingEmployee Status reports, pre-employment screening, new employee
orientation, and separation paperwork.
Monitor, update, and maintain the ADP System.Respond to unemployment and disability claims.Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of safety and employee morale programs.Prepare and manage documents, develop reports and correspondence
with minimal guidance.

REQUIREMENTS
REQUIREMENTS:Minimum of five years (5) related experience in Human Resources
with at least two years (2) as a supervisor; AA degree preferred.Excellent written, organizational, and verbal communicationsskills.Self-motivated; demonstrated interest in taking initiative,anticipating needs, multi-tasking and supporting projects from
the beginning to completion with minimal direction.Ability to interact with a variety of internal and externalindividuals with poise and confidentiality.Ability to handle highly confidential and critical information.Possess strong interpersonal skills and ability to workeffectively with all levels of employees in the organizationincluding senior management.
Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint software and HRIS.Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:This is primarily a sedentary office position that requires only occasional bending, reaching, stooping, lifting and moving of office materials weighing 25 pounds or less. The position requires daily use of a personal computer and requires entering, viewing and revising text and graphics on the computer terminal and on paper.
