www.centralgardenandpet.comThis position will provide professional HR input to business decisions and manage HR service delivery to the executives, managers and employees at Excel Garden Products. Key functional areas of responsibility are staffing; performance management processes; safety, health & environmental; training and development; employee relations; compensation systems; benefits administration; and payroll. The HR Manager is a generalist role based in Santa Fe Springs, CA and is responsible for 500+ employees within Excel Garden division. Other division offices within the scope of the position are distribution facilities located in Ontario, CA; Portland, OR and Dallas, TX.
Key Responsibilities:
•Plan, develop, direct and control the Human Resource policies and programs within the context of CG&P guidance to provide and maintain an effective organization.
•Provide HR leadership as well as tactical support for a lawn & garden distribution company with a diverse product line.
•Provide for the organizational staffing requirements, including the Affirmative Action Plan and Diversity initiatives.
•Handle all employee relations issues including investigations, documentation and conflict resolution.
•Ensure legal compliance with various governmental laws and regulations covering the areas of OFCCP, OSHA, DOT, EEOC, safety & health, environmental, employment, wage and hour, Sarbanes-Oxley, and worker’s compensation.
•Develops and supports effective employee communications processes.
•Leads workforce skills training initiatives, to include performance management processes, forklift operator training, and other specialized training as required.
•Provides compensation counsel/data and promptly handles employee benefit issues as they occur.
•Insures that proper records management processes are in place
REQUIREMENTS
Skills and Experience:
•5+ year’s professional HR experience, preferably in a distribution or manufacturing environment with multi-state responsibility.
•Must be technically strong in HR “generalist” areas.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
•Must have a proven ability to lead and manage for results within a team environment.
•Large and small company experience with an entrepreneurial bent is important.
•Superior problem solving skills coupled with the ability to objectively analyze current practices, identify improvement opportunities, build consensus, and assist with the implementation of related changes.
•Ability to manage ambiguity as well as work in a decentralized organization.
•Bachelor’s degree with a focus on HR, Business or Finance is desired.•Approximately 15% travel involved
•Bilingual Spanish preferred but not required
