Field Staffing Manager
MAJOR PURPOSE
Effectively meet the Marketing, Sales & Service's (MSS) human resources requirements by providing an area of expertise in identification, sourcing, attraction, placement, and retention of qualified candidates to support desired business objectives. This position will be expected to support the needs of talent acquisition for the Field organization, as well as other key Talent Acquisition initiatives.
II. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the long-term strategic direction and operating objectives of the Field by attracting and retaining highly capable and effective human resources.
Assure that the organization is aware of and monitors the financial implications of effective talent acquisition.
Develop and maintain a pro-active approach to Talent Acquisition requirements for a diverse and geographically dispersed organization.
Develop a staffing process and supporting information system that effectively meets staffing needs. Provide leadership in implementing the change necessary for this process to be effective. (Partner with corporate staffing to implement new tools and processes.)
Provide overall leadership, direction, training, and development for assigned resources.
Assure that staffing practices fully meet the requirements of applicable laws and regulations.
Guide and educate managers/employees on the administration of employee relocation, cost associated with relocation, and determination of special needs based on individual situations.
Ensure hiring managers have a strong pool of diverse candidates to support the Company's diversity initiatives, especially in management positions.
Develop capabilities that will enhance the Field Staffing Team's ability to attract the "best and brightest" candidates.
Develop and implement strategy for effective university recruiting for Field Development Program.
Partner with key universities to position development programs on campus that support growth of the Company, which will position management talent for the future.
As needed by the Human Resources Generalist, develop internship/co-op programs to provide individuals the opportunity for broad cross-functional or functional exposure to the Grainger business.
Manage AA/EEO in partnership with Generalist Staff. (Partner with corporate EEO office). Also, partner with our Diversity office to support the Field Diversity Plan and initiatives.
Manage the Field Staffing budget.
REQUIREMENTS
It is critical to the position of Field Talent Acquisition Manager for the incumbent to understand the core business, business strategies and critical business issues, operating plans, as well as bring a level of expertise in Talent Acquisition, especially for a geographically diverse field-based organization.
The Field Talent Acquisition Manager will have a leadership style, which emphasizes teamwork and applies the principles of Customer Service, process orientation and leveraging of technology.
Broad human resources management knowledge, typically acquired through 7-10 plus years' experience is required. Direct experience in Talent Acquisition is a must.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement innovative, responsive and cost-effective recruitment approaches.
Understand and continually utilize effective assessment and selection techniques and processes.
Proven ability to partner and manage external resources in acquiring talent.
IV. IMPACT ON THE ORGANIZATION
As a business partner aligned with the key business processes and in support of the MSS HR Business Team, the Field Talent Acquisition Manager enables the MSS organization to be responsive and cost-effective in meeting the Company's staffing needs. The Field Talent Acquisition Manager contributes toward the organization achieving strategic and operating objectives. This role directly supports the Company's values and encourages progressive change through team effort and continuous process improvement.
The Field Talent Acquisition Manager will clearly understand each area of MSS and create partnerships with internal HR Team, Field Managers and external partners. This alignment is necessary to attract ad retain the employees needed to achieve business objectives.
V. WORK RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports to the Director, Human Resources - Marketing Sales & Service.
The position has responsibility for providing leadership and development for all staffing of Field-based staffing team.
Internal
The Field Talent Acquisition Manager aligns and works with the HR generalist Team, HR Centers of Excellence, and with employees at every level in the placement process.
External
The Field Talent Acquisition Manager has business relationships with professional associations, agencies, outplacement firms, executive search firms, university placement offices, and consultants/contract recruiters. This typically involves identifying and negotiating opportunities and utilizing professional resources to achieve desired business objectives in a cost-effective manner.
