Didi Hirsch Community Mental Health Center is seeking an Employment Specialist to assist severely mentally ill adults with the selection, location and maintenance of employment.



Additional responsibilities include:



Performs outreach to obtain and refer clients into the Agency’s employment services; coordinates client referrals to and from the DR, and acts as primary contact for ongoing coordination with DR service providers.



Assesses client job skills and provides necessary training to develop and improve such skills; completes client assessment and provides counseling for job matches including client’s psychiatric condition, job targets and social support network.



Maintains ongoing liaison with DR, developing work plans for each assigned program participant including job search skills, transportation arrangements, resume preparation, interviewing methods and job retention.



Collaborates with Employment Specialist to match clients’ skills to potential job placement; identifies and provides on site support as needed during the first 90 to assist the employed client adapt to the work environment.
Coordinates and communicates with other health care professionals and family relative to the placement of clients in employment.



Participates in case reviews and goal planning for each program client; keeps program staff informed of clients performance (pre and post placement) and support needs to assure all needs are met.

REQUIREMENTS



BS/BA in human services or related field & 1 year exp in a mental health setting w/some exp in an employment placement environment.



Have a working knowledge of the community job market, and job placement of individuals with a history or mental illness.



Knowledge of characteristics, symptoms and etiology of mental illness, vocational rehabilitation and supported employment techniques, business operations and employer concerns, interviewing methods, job search skills and case management.



Working ability to establish rapport with mental health clients, employers and the general community.



Knowledge of HIPAA, DMH, DR, licensing policies and documentation guidelines; and other state/ federal regulations.
