We seek a Director of Human Resources, working out of our North American headquarters in Glastonbury, CT. The Open Solutions Human Resources Director has a full platter of varied activities -- merger-and-acquisition coordination, acquired-company integration into the Open Solutions family, HRIS processes (PeopleSoft) and recordkeeping, day-to-day workflow.
In this role you will manage a team of three professionals (one admin, one generalist, one coordinator) with responsibilities for all employee actions, all records, new-hire orientation and special events. If you're a doer as well as a successful delegator, this is your job.
Our ideal candidate is a been there/done that, go-with-the-flow, team player. You will have managed in a corporate setting, coordinating with widely scattered offices here and in other countries that have varying levels of HR support people and skills. You will have experience in bringing the people of an acquired company into the fold, and be comfortable talking to them about how their lives have just changed -- quite possibly for the better.
You will thoroughly understand HR needs and demands of a database system, and if you have PeopleSoft experience, you're a couple of steps ahead of others. You will know what kinds of HR reports are useful, and adhere to deadlines and mandates from senior managers.
Reporting to the VP, HR Operations the Director of Human Resources will
influence, guide and reinforce organizational culture through offices nationally and internationally
administer human resources policies, programs, and practices fairly and understandably
implement corporate policies and local procedures
recommend policies and practices to senior management related to recruitment and selection, regulatory compliance, equal employment opportunity, record maintenance, and training and development for management and staff
consult with all departments to implement and evaluate HR strategies and programs that support business objectives interface closely with managers of Compensation & Benefits, Employee Relations and Recruiting
participate in strategic planning and budgeting activities, recommending human resources programs that meet Open Solutions needs and goals
coordinate and facilitate Open Solutions' annual performance and compensation review process (review and update the process and tools as needed, conduct performance-appraisal training, and communicate and enforce organizational expectations and timelines)
support several remote locations with and through your staff
coordinate the HR transformation required in an acquired company
administer all immigration forms and handle all visa issues. REQUIREMENTS
To qualify for this position, you must have:
a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field
a minimum of ten years of progressively responsible human resource management experience
a minimum of three to five years of experience in managing HR professionals
experience in supporting remote offices
demonstrable knowledge of laws and regulations governing activities related to compensation and benefits, performance counseling, and employee relations
the ability to build strong, trusting relationships at all levels of the company
excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills and client/customer-service orientation
a proven ability to manage, motivate and develop direct reports and to influence others and lead without directives
the ability to apply and adapt HR practices to reinforce the desired culture and work environment
experience in managing HR responsibilities involving mergers and acquisitions
direct experience managing change in an evolving corporate environment
experience in a high-tech company -- software company experience preferred.
