DescriptionSUMMARY
The Clinical Trainer plays a key role in the initial clinical orientation and ongoing skill development of the FutureHealth UM and CM clinical and non-clinical staff. The incumbent is responsible for training on FHC clinical programs and business process related to the delivery of the UM and CM products. He/She is responsible for specific assignments related to employee skill/development evaluation, continuing education, and the associated documentation and evaluation of the effectiveness of training.
RESPONSIBILITIES1. Development and maintenance of core training benchmarks/competencies and corresponding training programs for the following functional areas and /or associated staff: Pre-certification – Pre-cert Assistant Concurrent Review – UR Nurse Medical Procedure Review – MPR Nurse Appeals – Appeals Nurs Case Management – Case Managers UM/CM Coordinators2. Develops training curriculum for peer/supervisor mentoring and preceptor activities in UM/CM operations.3. Delivers specific training on the performance of utilization management and case management.4. Identifies training needs and educational resources in areas impacting the effective and efficient delivery of UM and CM services.5. Designs and develops approaches for building requisite knowledge, skills and ability within the UM/CM operation units.6. Measures training effort results in terms of trainee knowledge skills, ability acquisition and resultant organizational impact.7. Re-trains staff on changes to operational procedures and/or programmatic components.8. Conducts individual staff re-training as needed.9. Conducts scheduled and ad-hoc QA audits and Inter-reliability (IRR) testing.10. Maintenance and update of QA and IRR tools.11. Collaborates with R&D to develop and deliver training to the clinical staff12. Coordinates “in-service” opportunities, case conferences and other internal professional development activities including certification and the maintenance of CEUs
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS1. Bachelor's degree with a minimum of five years direct experience in designing, evaluating and conducting training programs. Bachelor’s in Nursing preferred.2. Prior experience teaching adults and thorough knowledge of adult learning dynamics.3. Demonstrated ability to design and implement effective training programs.4. Experience designing computer assisted training.5. Experience training or precepting clinical professionals in a health plan or care management setting.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES1. Must possess effective training design, delivery, and assessment skills.2. Independent thinking and decision making; initiative in identifying opportunities and solving problems.3. Counseling skills required to coach people in terms of developmental needs.4. Effective interpersonal, communication and presentation skills and styles.5. Ability to communicate and operate at all levels of the organization.6. Understanding of adult learning principles, learning styles and differences.7. Strong PC skills, effective use of and experience with electronic systems, medical systems and keyboarding.8. Excellent organization and project management skills.
