Capacity Management Storage Analyst

We seek a candidate to join the Capacity Management team to capture, analyze and forecast the firms Fibre Channel Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) storage needs for our business activities worldwide. The successful candidate should have more than 8 years of experience in implementing and supporting Information Technology storage infrastructure in Mainframe, Unix, Linux, Netware or Windows Server environments.

Position Summary
A Capacity Management Analyst works independently under the direction of a team manager to gather technical usage data, business activity data and business plan data to forecast and cost the firms storage requirements. Capacity analysts work on projects to assess current system performance and analyze future system needs for major applications and/or business initiatives. The role requires creativity, mature judgment, strong verbal and written communication skills, and a foundational understanding in how the various elements of an infrastructure come together accomplish a technical objective.

Responsibilities
 Gather, validate and analyze usage data on storage resources
 Meet with technical and business leaders to comprehensively understand the relationship of business needs and storage resources using formal and ad hoc modeling approaches
 Apply knowledge of business plans and historical trending to forecast resource needs over various planning horizons
 Assist in projects to understand performance, costs and technology options to improve firm business results
 Assist in the annual budgeting process for storage and development of the Capacity Enterprise Report
 Communicate requirements and results clearly to the managers of several ITS technical partnering groups and others as situations arise
REQUIREMENTS
 Bachelor degree or at least four years of work in capacity related functions
 Working architectural knowledge of the large and open system environments
 Proficient with the MS suite of products
 Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
 Demonstrates analytical/problem solving skills
 Strong written and verbal communication skills

Deep experience in some of the following areas is also essential:
 Capacity Management analysis and forecasting tools and techniques
 Fibre Channel Storage Area Networks (SAN)
 Network Attached Storage (NAS), especially Network Appliance
 DBMS (especially UDB/DB2 and Oracle)
 SAS
 Accounting, Statistics or Operations Research
