Benefits Specialist/Human Resources Generalist

Job Category: Exempt StaffIs this position grant funded?: Institution-FundedMonths Per Year: 12Pay Rate: High $30's to low $40's or commensurate with qualificationsDepartment: Human ResourcesPurpose/Description: To coordinate the daily administration of the College's benefit plans including medical, life, disability, retirement, FMLA, and worker's compensation. Understand benefit plans, plan design; know trends, project costs. Work closely with the Vice President for Human Resources in developing, implementing, and managing benefit programs and policies. Develop, implement and manage benefit programs and policies.
Develop metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of current and future benefit programs.
Process and reconcile monthly billing for premium payments.
Develop and maintain record keeping systems.
Administer benefits enrollment of employees. Act as liaison between employees and plan vendors to resolve problems.
Plan and organize annual open enrollment. Ensure compliance with all applicable ERISA, Department of Labor, HIPAA, and state and federal regulations as well as company policies and procedures. Serve as HIPAA Privacy Officer.
Administer Worker's Compensation and FMLA programs.
Prepare reports and trend analyses and make recommendations as needed.
Periodically perform Generalist functions such as recruitment, training, and compensation.
Assist with other HR projects as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
Required Qualifications: - Prefer bachelor's degree but 3 to 4 years of HR benefits experience is essential. Knowledge of current industry trends.
Ability to work independently and think creatively.
Ability to maintain confidentiality required.
Numerical and data entry accuracy necessary.
Ability to work with tact among diverse groups and individuals.Preferred Qualifications: - Professional certification desirable.
Experience in plan design and cost control methodologies preferred.
