The Sales Manager role is to manage existing accounts within assigned market(s) and solicit new business to ensure all revenue goals (room night, average rate, room rental) are achieved or exceeded.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Display energy in every action taken. Make eye contact with all guests and offer a helpful welcoming smile. Exhibit enthusiasm through voice, behavior and all communication.All actions demonstrate a keen focus on the well being of the company.Travel locally and out of town to conduct personal sales calls, promote the property and perform competitive analysis.Move throughout property to conduct site inspections. Maximize revenue by selling all facets of the hotel, both orally and in written form to previous, current and potential clients.Handle account details so that all pertinent aspects of solicitation and closing are complete and documented. Coordinate various departments' participation in servicing accounts.Prepare information for, meet with and entertain clients as deemed appropriate. All such activities must be planned and have a measurable objective of securing additional business from the client(s).Represent property at trade shows and business events in accordance with property and departmental guidelines. Set up exhibits involving bending, stooping, lifting and reaching overhead.Initiative is taken to ensure the guest experience (internal and external) is exceptional and consistent. Actions coupled with this initiative demonstrate thought that is both proactive and logical.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, as established by Fourwinds Resort & Marina from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Team Members with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, Team Members may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the property.Upon employment, all Team Members are required to comply fully with Fourwinds Resort & Marina’s rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of property facilities. Team Members who violate Resort rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the property.Assist the supportive staff with the maintenance of sales files.
Other duties as assigned.SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.Knowledge of a resort structure and how all departments interact.Strong mathematical and calculator skills to prepare cost proposals.Ability to communicate effectively with customers in a friendly and positive manner, in order to solicit business, ascertain and meet client needs and resolve complaints.
Ability to move throughout the resort property over varying terrain to conduct site inspections.
Ability to listen, read, write and speak the English language, using excellent grammar and communication skills.Ability to efficiently operate various software programs (i.e.: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, etc.) as required to prepare required proposals, reports and documentation.QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Working Environment / Physical Activities:
Primary job is inside with protection from weather but not necessarily changes in temperature. Certain aspects of this job may require outside activities and present exposure to all types of weather, some of which may be extreme.Physical activities include walking and standing to a significant degree. Sitting for long periods of time is also possible. Talking, seeing, hearing, lifting objects weighing up to 30 pounds with frequent lifting and or carrying of objects weighing up to 20 pounds is possible.EDUCATION:
Four-year college degree preferred, however any combination of education and training within hotel and/or catering sales may also be considered.
EXPERIENCE:A minimum of five years sales experience is required.A minimum of one year experience in the hospitality industry is preferred.LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES:
A valid Indiana state driver’s license is required. Driving history must fall within established parameters.Professional certification through the Educational Institute of the AH&MA upon eligibility.
